Obituary of Robert J Hunter, III

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert J. “Jamie” Hunter, III, 22, died Tuesday night, December 8, 2015, in a car accident caused by a drunk driver. He was on his way to work as a night security guard for Planned Securities at the Florham Park location. Jamie, affectionately known as “Bear” by his family, baseball teammates and friends, got his nickname as a teenager. He was a strapping young man who could be a fierce competitor as well as the giver of wonderful bear hugs. The nickname was most appropriate. He started his baseball “career” at the age of five playing for Madison Little League baseball. In 2006, he was a member of the Madison Little League team that won the Division Championship. He went on to play for the Madison Junior School and High School teams. He also played with the Flor-Mad American Legion team for several years and was on the 2008 team that won the American Legion Sophomore State Championship. A versatile player, Jamie played catcher, left field and pitcher over the years. Jamie attended Tory J. Sabatini grammar school and graduated from Madison High School in 2011. In high school, he played freshman football and wrestled as a sophomore and junior, in addition to playing baseball. He attended County College of Morris, where he also played baseball his freshman year. Jamie loved paintball, movies, and entertaining people with his spot-on Irish and Scottish accents. He was a member of the Banana Stand Republic team for the international online game Battle Nations. Jamie is survived by his parents, Robert J. Hunter, Jr. and Debra Haines Kiser; his sister, Jessica Nicole Hunter; paternal grandmother, Helen Hunter, his long-time girlfriend, Devin Williamson, and her father, Mike; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Robert J. Hunter, Sr., and his maternal grandparents, Russell Lee and Betty Ruth Stevens Haines. Visiting will be held on Friday, 12/11/15 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Ave., Morris Plains, NJ 07950. The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, 12/12/15, at 11:00 am at Dangler Funeral Home. Interment is at Holy Cross Cemetery,145 Mount Airy Road, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) in Jamie’s memory.
