Obituary of Cecil Victor Tebbutt, Jr.

Please share a memory of Cecil to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Cecil Victor Tebbutt Jr. (Vic), 88, a 58 year resident of Madison, died November 13, 2016, of complications resulting from a fall. Born in Cleveland, Ohio to Cecil and Marion Tebbutt, he was the loving and devoted husband to Patricia (Dickey) for 66 years. Vic enlisted in the Army after graduating from P.S. DuPont High School in Wilmington, Delaware. He served in occupied Japan following WWII, then enrolled in the University of Delaware on the G.I. bill. He graduated with honors in chemical engineering in 1952, being the first college graduate in his family. Vic worked for Esso in their Baltimore refinery in the technical area. In 1958, he moved to Madison, NJ to work in the Bayonne refinery, eventually managed the technical group of the Bayway refinery, and spent the last 16 years of his career in the corporate offices of Esso/Exxon Middle East in Manhattan. He was active throughout his life, traveling the world with his wife and wintering in Hutchinson Island, Florida. He enjoyed gardening, playing golf as a member of the Madison Golf Club, bridge, and was on several bowling leagues. He was also active in the community and served as a volunteer for the Red Cross and as both a coach and manager for many years in the Madison Little League. (Go Elks!) A true hero and Godly example to his family, he leaves in addition to his wife, his son Robert and wife Sandra (Vanek), his daughter Ann Messineo and her husband Dominick, 11 adoring grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Also, his brothers Paul and wife Mary, David and wife Connie, John and wife Fran, and was predeceased by his sister and her husband, Martha and Harvey Williams. Vic was much loved and loved his family fiercely. He was the pillar of strength for us all. Though he will be greatly missed every single day, we are confident that we will be with him again one day in heaven. He taught us all the importance of family and giving, and to “THINK BIG”. Visitation hours will be from 6-8 pm on Friday, November 18, at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home in Madison. Burial services will be held at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Wilmington, Delaware on Saturday, November 19 at 11 am.
