Obituary of Yet Pang Tom

Yet Pang Tom passed away on Sunday Feb 26, 2017 in Mountainside, NJ after a brief illness. His wife of over 65 years, May, had passed away in 2014. Visiting will be on Friday March 3, 2017 from 4pm to 7pm and the Funeral Service will be held Saturday March 4, 2017 at 11:00am, both at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Madison, NJ. Interment will follow at Hilltop Cemetery in Mendham, NJ. Born in China, after coming to the US, he became the owner of the former Chi-Am Chateau restaurant on Route 22 in Mountainside which was previously owned by his father for many years. When he sold it in the late 1960’s, he invested in an apartment building and also had a second career as computer programmer at Oakite in Berkeley Heights until retirement. He was a long time member of the Mountainside Rotary Club and had also belonged to the Masons. He was a member of the Chinese Congregation of the First United Methodist Church of Scotch Plains. He is survived by his daughter Cherry Tom of Morristown, New Jersey, his son Peter Tom of North Royalton, Ohio, his son Victor Tom and his wife Sze-wen Kuo of Bedford, Massachusetts, granddaughter Corina Tom Donze and her husband Tom Donze, granddaughter Marissa Houle and her husband David Houle, granddaughter Kristine Tom, and great granddaughter Aeva Donze .
