Obituary of Henry J. Broxmeier, Sr.

Henry J. Broxmeier, Sr., 70, of Morristown passed away on April 27, 2017 at Morristown Medical Center.

Born in Morristown, Henry resided in Cedar Knolls before moving to Morristown 50 years ago. He graduated from Hanover Park High School in 1966.


Henry proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines as a Lance Corporeal during the Vietnam War, where was awarded a Purple Heart for his service.


Henry worked as a Foreman for the Morris Township Department of Public Works for 33 years, before retiring in 2002. He was also a member of St. Virgil’s Church, VFW Post #3401, and the Eagles Club FOE 1311 in Morristown.


Henry is survived by his devoted children, Deborah L. Broxmeier, and her fiancé, Peter Strunk, of Morristown, Theresa A. Belles, and her husband, Mark, of Morris Plains, Mary E. Weber, of Lake Hiawatha, and Hank J. Broxmeier, Jr., of Morristown. He is also survived by his beloved siblings, Walter Broxmeier, of Barnegat, Daniel Broxmeier, of Mt. Pocono, PA, Adrienne Chroback, of Lake Hopatcong, and Mary Broxmeier, of Cedar Knolls; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Julianna Belles, Mark Belles, Jr., Morgan Belles, Hannah Weber, and Connor Broxmeier; and his 14 nieces and nephews. Henry was predeceased by his wife, Theresa E. Broxmeier, whom he missed dearly, in 2014.


Visiting will be on Monday, May 1, 2017 from 4-7pm, with a Funeral Service at 7pm, at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. Interment of his ashes, along with his wife’s ashes, will be private and at a later date at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
