Obituary of Robert O. Sinclair, Jr.

~~Robert O. Sinclair Jr., 91, passed away peacefully at home on August 6, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.  Bob was a 66 year resident of Morris Plains.  He was born 9/20/25 and grew up in Clinton, NY.  He was the son of Robert O. Sinclair and Priscilla Wight Sinclair.  Bob received a B.E.E. from Cornell University in 1945 and received a M.A. in Physics from Columbia University in 1947.  Bob served in U.S. Naval Reserve: V-12 College Training Program 1943-45, Active Navy duty on board transport ship 1945-46.

Bob was employed by Bell Telephone Laboratories (Bell Labs) 1947-89.  From 1967-68 he lived on Kwajalein, Marshall Islands where he worked on U.S. Army guided missile projects.  Later in his career he supervised telephone cable repair operations systems.

Bob is survived by his wife of 69 years, E. Jeanne Sinclair; his sons Richard (Suffern, NY), Mark (Virginia) and Todd (Morris Plains, NJ), his brothers, James Sinclair (Clinton, NY) and David Sinclair, Fayetteville, NY), his grandchildren Eric (Arlington, Virginia).and Scott (New York City).

Bob was active with St. Paul's Episcopal Church as an officer and choir member (bass soloist).  He led the committee that selected the builder for the pipe organ that was installed in 1967.

Bob was a member of the Morris County Choral Society and Telephone Pioneers (Bell Labs).  He volunteered at Morristown Medical Center. His hobbies included church singing, opera attendance and listening to classical music.  Bob and Jeanne traveled extensively to Europe (primarily France) and Asia.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017, from 4-8 pm a St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 29 Hillview Avenue Morris Plains, NJ 07950. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017, at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Interment of ashes will be in St. Paul’s Church Memorial Garden.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be sent to: St. Paul's Episcopal Church or the charity of your choice.
