Obituary of Lawrence E. Everitt

~~Lawrence E. Everitt, 76, passed away on August 10, 2017, at his home in Morris Plains, NJ. He was born in Irvington, NJ, and was raised in Victory Gardens, Dover, NJ.  In 1963 he moved to Morris Plains where he lived for the past 54 years.
Larry was educated in the Dover school system and was a graduate of Dover High School. He worked for the Morris Plains Post Office and L.P. Thebault.  He was a Morris Plains Volunteer Fireman since 1971. During his life he held positions as President of the Morris Plains Fireman’s Association for 11 years, Battalion Chief of the Morris Plains Fire Department, Co-chairman of the Morris Plains 100th Anniversary Celebration, as well as President of the Fireman’s Exempt Association, Vice President of the Morris Plains Museum and Eucharistic Minister at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Rooney Everitt, and his loving children, Heather Walsh and her husband, John, Sean Everitt, and Erin Everitt, and his cherished grandchildren, Jack Walsh and Edward Walsh, in addition to his nephews, Lawrence Varhaul and John Varhaul, and his in-laws, Edward and Mary Ann Rooney and family, Margaret Rooney and Arne Samuelsen, Peter and Carol Rooney and family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Margaret Werner and Lawrence A. Everitt, his sister, Lois Varhaul and her husband, John.
Family and friends are welcome to gather on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, from 4-8pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Ave, Morris Plains, NJ 07950. A Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at 10:00 am at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 29 Hillview Ave., Morris Plains, NJ. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made in Larry’s memory to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church or the Morris Plains Fire Department.
