Obituary of Patricia Mary Ioannou

~~Patricia M. Ioannou, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully and with her family by her side on August 15, 2017. She was 75 years old.
Born on July 12, 1942 and raised in NJ, Patricia was the daughter of Michael and Walburga Kertis along with her older sister and best friend, Rose Gaven.
Patricia was a graduate of St. Vincent's Academy in Newark, NJ and Rutgers State University . She was a legal assistant for over thirty years for Shanley and Fisher and Drinker Biddle & Reith, LLP. After retiring at the age of 67, Patricia enjoyed spending time with her grandson, Carlos and walking her dog Zoe.
Patricia was a devoted wife. She was proud to marry the love of her life, John Nicholas Ioannou on July 31, 1982. They enjoyed traveling, with Costa Rica being one of her favorite trips. Together, they raised two beautiful daughters, Athena and Christina Ioannou. John and Patricia recently celebrated 35 years of marriage.
Patricia's kind and compassionate nature was exhibited through the hours of service work and helping others. As a member of Assumption Church, she volunteered at the Community Soup Kitchen. In 2011, Patricia received the Volunteer Recognition Award from the Daytop New Jersey Family Association for her commitment and dedication to helping families in need.
Patricia was a fun, loyal and caring friend. She looked forward to going to the movies and attending video club each month. She was never seen without a book. She helped create a book club and was able to share her passion with others.  Above all, Patricia loved and cared for her family. She looked forward to holidays and always treated her cousins like they were her own kids.
Left to Cherish her memory is her husband John, her daughters Christina Ioannou, Athena Ioannou, her grandson Carlos Canales, her nephew John Gaven and his wife Jan, Tracey Gaven-Bridgemen and her husband James, along with their children, Colin, Jack, Gaven and Logan; Her best friends Kathy Griffin and Rosalie Averna and many other friends who she considered to be like family.
Family and friends are welcome to gather on Sunday, August 20, 2017 from 3-6pm at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Madison. A Funeral Mass for Patricia will be held on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 10:00am at Assumption Church, 94 Maple Avenue, Morristown. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Research Institute, Carol Simon Cancer Center, or Daytop Village of New Jersey.
