Obituary of Margaret C. Heslin

~~Margaret C. Heslin, 96, of Heath Village in Hackettstown, passed away on November 11, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at Hackettstown Medical Center.


Margaret was born on October 19, 1921 in Harriman, NY to Elizabeth and Bernard Carey. She married Bernard T. Heslin in Gulfport, Mississippi in June 1942. Together, they resided and raised their family in the Morris County area before relocating to South Jersey.


Margaret worked for 25 years at the Morris County Probation department and retired to Ortley Beach for the next 25 years where she was an active member of the Saint Pio of Pietrelcina Parish.


Margaret is survived by her devoted children, Valerie (Walter) Trabold, Susan Walther, Thomas (Janet) Heslin, Brian (Alyne) Heslin, and Janice (Robert) Knospe. She was also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Stacey, Christine, Scott, Brian, Kevin, Sara, Kate, Sean, Matt, Alison, Jannae, and David; as well as her adored great-grandchildren, Corinne, Brennan, Rowan, Sloane, Zane, Max, Tyler, Ella, Brooke, Addison, and Bryson. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Bernard, and son-in-law, Karl.


Living at Heath Village for the past 6 years, Margaret enjoyed great friendships and participated in numerous activities including Rummikub. She was a champion Rummikub player who took time to teach others the game.


Visitation will be on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 10:30am – 12:00pm, with a brief prayer service at 11:45am, at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. Graveside service and interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
