Obituary of Mary E. Feketie

Mary Elizabeth Feketie, 92, died peacefully at her residence at The Oaks at Denville on Sunday, January 21, 2018.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 4-7pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Ave., Morris Plains, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 10:30am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, South Orange, N.J. with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N.J.

Born in Irvington, N.J., Mary was a 1943 graduate of Columbia High School and 1947 graduate of Chestnut Hill College. A resident of South Orange for nearly 60 years, she moved to Morris Township in 1993 and to Denville in 2014.

Known affectionately as MM (Mother Mary) by all who loved her, she lived her life with complete devotion to her faith and to her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Mary was predeceased by her parents Charles E. and Mary E. Dwyer Garneau; her husband John J. “Jack” Feketie; her son Michael J. Feketie; her brother Charles E. Garneau Jr; and her sister Jeanne M. Hurley. Surviving are her daughters Mary F. Preston (William) Cynthia A. Feketie, Susan F. Smith (David), Kathryn A. Freeman (William); her son J. Peter Feketie (Laura); her sister A. Jacqueline Dooley (Charles); her brother-in-law Rev. Michael J. Feketie; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; many adoring cousins, nieces and nephews; and her dear friend Ralph Sens.
