Obituary of Rose M. Sanzari

Please share a memory of Rose to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Rose M. Sanzari, 80, of Cedar Knolls, NJ, passed away February 23, 2018, at CareOne at Hanover Township, Whippany, NJ.

Born to Nicholas and Marie Carrozza and raised with her brother, Anthony, in Union City, NJ, Rose lived with her beloved husband Neil in Memphis, TN, and Brookline, MA, before returning to New Jersey to raise their family in Parsippany, NJ, where they lived for nearly forty years. They retired to Rockaway and Bayville, NJ. After Neil passed away in 2014, Rose moved to Cedar Knolls, where she loved to cook for and visit with family and enjoyed the fellowship of cherished friends, old and new.

A graduate of Emerson High School, Rose was a homemaker, wife, mother, and deeply beloved grandmother of nine, ages 10 to 25: Ava, Christopher, Gabriella, Tobias, Sophia, Nicholas, Jeffrey, David, and Jessica.

Rose is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Felicia and Edward Chernesky, of Flemington, Stephanie and Joseph Avallone, of Whippany, Jennifer and Joseph DeSimone, of Baltimore, MD, and Francesca and Joseph Ciotoli, of Nutley, as well as beloved sister-in-law Phyllis Carrozza, of Santa Rosa, CA, and many nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren.

Those who knew and loved Rose may remember best enjoying mouthwatering meals and hearty conversation filled with debate and laughter at her dinner table. While her family was the center of her world, Rose was very well read and keenly aware of current cultural and political events. She loved music, and especially enjoyed Broadway and opera. She was a skillful pianist.

Family and friends are welcome to gather Thursday, March 1, 2018, from 8:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Ave. (at Glenbrook Rd.), Morris Plains, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial for Rose will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at 12:30 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima, 316 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery & Mausoleum, 225 Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover, NJ.
