Obituary of William G. Povilaitis

William “Bill” G. Povilaitis, Sr., 90 years old, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Sunrise of Madison.          

Bill was born in Ashley, PA and grew up in Wilkes-Barre.  He was married to the love of his life, Patty Corbett, on October 2, 1948. They spent the majority of their life living on Woodland Rd. in Madison, NJ,  where they raised a family and lived happily ever after until her passing on October 14, 2000.

Bill served in the United States Navy during both World War II (Asiatic Pacific) and the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge on June 29, 1951. An electrical engineering technician specializing in television electronics, Bill worked at RCA and RKO General before retiring from CBS. He was a longtime parishioner and choir member of St. Vincent Martyr Church.

Bill was the father of nine children. He was predeceased by his wife, Patty and three children, Patty Ellen, Mary and Paul. Survivors include his children, William Jr. (Leanna), John (Claire), Josie Deelsnyder, Mary Pat Pfeil (Bob), Mark, Patrick (Janet); two grandchildren, Dalton & Dawson; his sister, Ann Levin of Lompoc, CA, and a sister-in-law, Margaret Corbett of Atlanta, GA; along with many nieces and nephews.

Relatives & friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 4-7pm at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Madison. A Memorial Mass for Bill will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 10:00am at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison. Interment of ashes will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Madison.

In lieu of flowers, as per his wishes, please say a prayer and do something nice for a veteran.
