Obituary of Evelyn Kelly

Evelyn Louise Portine Kelly -85 – Keyport, NJ.died on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, with her son at her side at Bay Shore Hospital in Holmdel, NJ. She was born in Morristown to the late George Portine, Sr. and Marion (Johnson) Portine, and lived in the Morristown area most of her entire life before moving to Keyport, NJ a few years ago. She was a graduate of Morristown High School. Evelyn taught Sunday School at the Salvation Army, and was a waitress at Whelans Drug Store, Kresges, Woolworths, and Tavern On the Green, retiring in the 70’s to help her mother at home. Her hobbies were gardening, watching Soaps, and feeding and watching her birds. She loved children. She is survived by her son Robert Kelly and his wife Beth Long, granddaughter Jennifer Kelly, sister Marian Lovenberg O’Connor, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother George (Buddy) Portine, Jr., and sisters Audrey Strelec, and Patricia Portine. A funeral service to celebrate Evelyn’s life will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at 11 am, at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Ave. (corner of Glenbrook Rd.), Morris Plains. A private burial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Evelyn’s name to the Interfaith Food Pantry, 2 Executive Drive, Morris Plains, NJ 07950.
