Obituary of John P Murray, Jr.

John P. Murray, Jr., 80, beloved son of John P. Murray, Sr., longtime proprietor of Murray’s Garage in Morristown and Helen D. Murray of Rutland, Vt., died suddenly Saturday after suffering from pulmonary fibrosis. A lifetime resident of Morristown, he was a graduate of Morristown High School, Class of 1953, where he played trumpet in the marching band, Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts and Fairleigh Dickenson University, working as a commercial artist in Newark and as an accountant with Engelhard Industries in Newark and Memorial Hospital in Morristown. He also received an Honorable Discharge from the US Army after 6 years of service with the NJ National Guard. John loved sports, gardening, music and bowling, and enjoying his loving family and friends. He coached his son’s Little League team and provided charitable support for the VFW and the March of Dimes. He is predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Carol L. Murray of Berkley Heights, and is survived by his loving son Timothy, his daughter-in-law, Aubrey, and his four loving grandsons, Cooper, Campbell, Caiden and Cormac of Crawfordsville, Indiana, and by his loving brother James of Chester, NJ. A Memorial Service for John will be held on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 2:00pm at The Presbyterian Church in Morristown, 57 East Park Place, Morristown. Interment will be private. Arrangements were under the care of Dangler Funeral Home, Morris Plains.
