Obituary of George P Moore

George P. Moore, 92, of West Caldwell, New Jersey, formerly of Madison, NJ, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2015, at Mountainside Hospital, Glen Ridge, NJ. George Moore was born in New York City to the late William Moore and Johanna (Buckley) Moore, on October 1, 1923. He went on to graduate from Manhattan Prep High School (1941) and earned a BS in Business Administration from Manhattan College, Bronx, NY in 1948. In 1952 he earned a JD Law degree from New York School of Law, New York City, NY. His career started in the securities industry in New York City and included 30 years at Prudential Life Insurance Company of America, as an investment portfolio manager, retiring in 1986 as Vice President-Common Stocks. He was a long time member of the New York Society of Securities Analysts. He served in the United States Army Air Corps for 33 months including active duty with the 15th Army in North Africa and Italy in WWII from 1943 to 1945, earning an Honorable Discharge at the rank of Corporal in November 1945. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at his home of 50 years in Madison, NJ, a place of many memorable family gatherings. He was a long time communicant of St. Vincent Martyr Church in Madison. George Moore is survived by his beloved wife Marie Lara Moore, having recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. He is also survived by his five children: Ann M. Moore, and husband James Aylward, of Little Falls, NJ, Peter G. Moore and wife Mary D. Moore, of Falmouth, Maine, Robert F. Moore and wife Christina Tur, of Astoria, NY, Susan (Moore) Loebs and husband David Loebs, of Denver, North Carolina, and Louise (Moore) Maxwell and husband Stuart Maxwell, of Seattle, WA. He is survived by seven wonderful grandchildren, Lara, James, Christian, Leigh Ann, Jessica, David and Andrew, and by 3 great grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces, and several cousins in Ireland, as well as his two brothers-in-law Frank Lara and wife Judy Lara of Nampa, ID, and E. Ronald Lara and wife Patrice Lara, of Breckenridge, CO. He is survived by his sister, Regina (Moore) Boyle of Basking Ridge, NJ. He was predeceased by his brother, William J. Moore, and sister Mary (Moore) Carpenter. A wake will be held on Friday December 11, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, at the Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Madison, NJ 07940 (www.danglerfunerlhomes.com). Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 12, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison, NJ 07940. Burial will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery at the corner of Shunpike Road and Noe Ave., Madison, NJ. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the compassionate staff at Crane’s Mill Retirement Community, West Caldwell, NJ, and to the nurses and staff at Mountainside Hospital, both for their extraordinary care and respect.
