Q: What will you never forget about Alan? A: Alan was my neighbor for 33years and I can remember him always tending his fruit & veggie garden that was one of the activities that he enjoyed. When his harvest was plentiful, he would share some of the wonderful produce over to Nick & me to enjoy. Ellen & Alan were the kindest people you could ever have as next door neighbors and I will never forget them and their children Andy & Tamarra but so sorry that I just found out about his passing. My prayers for his family are being said as they are going through this loss & grieving together. I hope my husband & Alan are neighbors in Heaven once again. Hugs to the whole Gross family with love ❤️.

We have only known Alan for a short time but wereimpressed by the way he tended his magnificent gardens but more importantly in the way he cared for Ellen. He was a true gentleman in every way possible. We hope his family is comforted by knowing how much Alan was respected and loved by those who knew him.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Alan for over 12 years. Being part of renovations in his home allowed me to connect and learn so much about how he cared about his home and the love he had for Ellen. He will be greatly missed. I am glad I spoke with a few weeks back. Sending much love and prayers. May memories be a comfort.

When I think of Alan, the word that comes to mind is “Mensch”. I have had the pleasure of knowing him for a long time. In that time he has proven to be an intelligent, devoted and giving human being. He has served on the Board of the Morristown Jewish Center for many years. He also volunteered his time with the Morris Minute Men as an EMT. However, the most indicative of his devotion was to his wife, Ellen, and his family. Alan dearly loved his wife, Ellen, and his two beautiful children: Andrew and Tamra. He also had the pleasure to spend time with his grandchildren, which gave him great joy. Alan was a person whom I greatly admired for his intelligence, strength and devotion to those he loved. The Japanese garden in the backyard was his joy as well. I will miss Alan and his enthusiasm for life.

My husband Jules and I met Alan in 1966 in west Lafayette Indiana. Ellen and I carpooled to the schools we taught in an hour and a world away Alan and my late husband formed a bond over statistics. Alan helped Jules graduate Purdue by tutoring him. What a joy to hear the laughter between those two Perhaps they are sharing some laughs now. I hope so Loved them both.
