Margaret “Peg” McCormack, 91, passed away peacefully at her residence in Madison,NJ surrounded by her loving family. She was a life-long resident of Madison, NJ. During World War II, she worked as a switchboard operator in Madison, NJ. She also worked as a volunteer at St. Vincent Martyr School and Bayley Ellard High School, Madison, NJ. Margaret was influential in starting the Girl Scouts in Madison and continued as a Girl Scout Leader for the Girls Scouts of St. Vincent Martyr Church. Margaret was an avid softball player and coached her own softball team during World War II and in the 60’s. Margaret is survived by her son and long-time caregiver, Robert E. McCormack of Madison,NJ, and her daughter, Peggy (Mc Cormack )Kurtulik and husband, Paul, Neschanic Station, NJ . She is also survived by her sister, Elizabeth Early, Stirling,NJ, her sister-in-law, Cooky Dowling, Madison, NJ as well as her grandchildren, Brian Kurtulik, and wife, Lauren, and Kenneth Kurtulik and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Chief James McCormack in 2008. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Edward, Joseph and Frederick Dowling, her sister, Ellen Martus and brother-in-law, Joseph Martus. Visiting will be held on Monday, December 14, 2015, from 5-8 pm only at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main St., Madison, NJ 07940. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at 10:00 am at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison, NJ 07940. Interment will be at St. Vincent Cemetery, Noe and Shunpike Ave., Madison, NJ 07940. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Madison Volunteer Ambulance Corp., 29 Prospect St., Madison, NJ 07940.
