Mrs. Claire E. Binkowski, a long-time Morris County resident, died March 7, 2016, at the Newbridge on the Charles Senior Community in Dedham, Massachusetts. She was 91. Claire was the daughter of Joseph and Katherine Dejewski in Jersey City. After graduating as valedictorian at Ferris High School, she earned her R.N. at the Jersey City Medical Center and teaching certificate at the New Jersey State Teachers’ College. She was later employed at the Visiting Nurse Association. After moving to the Morristown area, Claire worked as a teacher at St. Virgil’s in Morris Plains and Assumption School in Morristown. For almost 40 years, she continued as a school nurse at Madison High School, Delbarton, and Alfred Vail Elementary School, as well as occasionally filling in at the Seeing Eye Training Center in Morristown. Widow of the late, Edward S. Binkowski , she is survived by her children, Edward (Carol), Christine (Edward), and Monica; her grandchildren, Brian, Courtney, Lauren, Tyler, Brendan, Owen, Katherine, and Alison; and her great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Preston, and Kate. In addition to her husband, Claire was also predeceased by her son, Robert. Family and friends are welcome to gather on Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 2-5pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. A Funeral Mass for Claire will be held on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 10:00am at St. Virgil’s Church, 250 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
