Fran was part of the neighborhood book club. We took turns hosting and choosing books. She was such a delight sharing memories of her youth that mirrored some of the stories we read. She put me to shame by remembering the characters and details of books where my, younger but obviously not as sharp, mind could not.
I have told many people that I have a friend who vacationed in Cuba when Hemingway was there. Now that is very cool.
We enjoyed many a holiday, dinner, lunch and time together. Her passing is still very surreal and I expect to see her getting her mail or driving to the grocery store each day.
I am a better person for knowing her. My sincere condolences to her family and close friends.
