Obituary of Albert V. Cardinale
Albert V. Cardinale passed away peacefully at home on February 5, 2025 at the age of 85. Albert was born on November 30, 1939 in Trenton, NJ and is a graduate of Trenton Catholic Boys School. He later served in the United States Army before pursuing his higher education. He graduated from Rider University, later earning his Master of Business Administration from New York University. He married his loving wife of almost 55 years, Barbara, in 1970 and the two decided to make their home in Morris Plains in 1976. Albert worked at Arthur Andersen and Becton Dickinson before settling for twenty-eight years with BASF as Senior Vice President for Planning and Controlling. He retired from BASF in 2000.
Albert embodied the term life-long learner, continuing to take classes at Drew University after retiring. He was an avid reader, especially favoring historical fiction and biographies. He enjoyed spending time at the Jersey shore, taking walks at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum, and seeing shows at the Paper Mill Playhouse. He and his wife frequented the Metropolitan Opera, live theatre, and the many museums and restaurants in New York City. Albert was fortunate to travel extensively throughout the United States and Europe, citing Italy and Austria among his favorite destinations.
Preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Victoria Cardinale, (Pantano) and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Leonard and Susan Cardinal (Hoffman) and Arthur and Maureen Cardinale, (Carr) Albert is survived by his wife, Barbara, (Reehill) his sisters and brothers-in-law, Samuel and Rosemary Gess and David and Antointette Lamoreaux: nieces and nephews Leonard Cardinal, (Betsy) Christine Cardinal, (Dale) Meg Clemens, (Gary) Jennifer Wood, (James) Karen Jones, Dr. Joseph Cardinale, (Amir Baghery) Lisa Cardinale, Jonathan Gess, and Michelle Lamoreaux, as well as several adoring cousins.
A viewing will be held at Dangler’s Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains on Thursday, February 13 from 10am to 12pm, with a brief memorial service to immediately follow. Interment will be at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Friends of The Frelinghuysen Arboretum “In Memory of Albert Cardinale” at www.arboretumfriends.org/donate.
