Obituary of Joan F. Sweeney

Joan Frances Sweeney died at Saint Clare’s Hospital, Dover on February 26. She was 89 years old.

Joan was born in Morristown, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Bridget Ward Sweeney and George Sweeney.

A graduate of Bayley Ellard High School, Madison, Joan worked in area businesses before moving to Buffalo, New York in her 20s. There she worked for the Dairylea Corporation and Buffalo General Hospital.

She travelled often with her family, and one of the highlights was a trip to Ireland with her mother, aunt, and cousin to visit the family home in Donegal. Joan moved back to the Morristown area in 2016 to be close to family. 

She is survived by her sisters Mary (Ted) Vallacchi, and Gail (John) Dewees. Nieces and nephews Micki (Dave) Stanek, Rick (Carrie) Vallacchi, Doug (Lisa) Vallacchi,   

Christian (Karen ) Dewees, Suzanne (Thomas) King and cousin Dennis (Jodi) Webb and several grand nieces and nephews. 

Arrangements for a commemorative service will be held at a later date. 

Arrangments were under the care of Dangler Funeral Home, Morris Plains.
