Obituary of Joseph Anthony Simone, Sr.
Joseph Anthony Simone Sr., also known as Bozo, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Joseph was 88 years old, born and raised in Morristown, NJ. He and his wife, Marie, of 68 years, lived in Whippany, NJ, for the past 30-plus years. He was a 69-year member of the Bricklayers International Union Locals 21 and 4, retiring in 2000. During his career, Joseph was known for his exceptional skills and dedication to his craft. He worked on numerous significant projects, contributing to the construction and restoration of many buildings in the New Jersey area. His colleagues admired his work ethic and commitment to excellence. Joseph was also a mentor to many young bricklayers, sharing his knowledge and expertise to help them succeed in their careers.
Joseph was a faithful parishioner of Notre Dame Mount Carmel Church in Cedar Knolls, NJ.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marie Delores Simone; his children, Joseph Anthony Simone Jr. and his wife Laurie, Kenneth Simone and his wife Lisa, Michele Clauss and her husband Scott, and Joanne Simone Cook and her husband William.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Gregory and Shaina, Amanda and Kristen, Ken and Jen, Kyle and Danie, Justin and Malynna, Joseph, Gina, Steven. Great-grandchildren: Conor, Emilia, Annabella, and Stella.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Pasquale and Mary; his daughter, Karen; and his siblings, John and Frances.
Joseph loved his family and cherished spending time with them. He enjoyed cooking and was known for his fun-loving attitude and being the life of the party.
Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 3 PM to 8 PM at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, located at 106 Main Street, Madison, NJ 07940.
The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 10:00 am at Notre Dame of Mount Carmel, 75 Ridgedale Ave, Cedar Knolls, NJ 07927. Interment will follow at Gates of Heaven Cemetery, 255 Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org) or the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
