Obituary of Corini Peter Orlando, Jr.

Corini Peter “Cory” Orlando, Jr., of Washington, NJ passed away at Lyons VA Medical Center in Lyons, NJ on March 18, 2025.

Cory was born and raised in Madison, before he moved to Piscataway and then Washington, NJ.

He graduated from Madison High School in 1951, where he was also awarded the Bradley Tri-Athlete Award.

Cory proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Private First Class during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in Special Services and was awarded the Army Occupational Medal in Germany, and the National Defense Service Medal.

Cory is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Shelby Orlando; his dear children, Corini Orlando, III (Sharon Orlando), Cory Orlando IV (Dimitrios Matrakas), Krystal Orlando Hewins (Bryan Hewins), Melissa Avery (Steve Avery); and his cherished grandson, Carmine Andrew Avery. He is also survived by his beloved sisters, Grace Parlapiano, Kathy Simonelli, and her husband, Neil, Anna Maganelli, and her husband, Clem, and his sister-in-law, Dory Orlando. Cory was predeceased by his parents Corini and Anna (Renna) Orlando; his sisters, Rose Sodano, Mary Lamson-Conrads, and Antoinette Orlando; as well as his brother, Peter Orlando.

Visiting for Cory will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 10:00am-11:30am, with a Funeral Service at 11:30am, at Burroughs Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Madison, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Madison, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in memory of Cory may be made to the Charity of One’s Choice.
