Obituary of Madeline D. Traynor
Madeline D. Traynor, age 86 of Pasadena, MD and formerly of Madison, New Jersey and Ridgefield, Connecticut, passed peacefully in her sleep on March 30th after a bedside visit with her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Theadora Mollico Danzico and beloved wife of the late Arthur Traynor.
Madeline came from a close Italian family. She was a graduate of Bayside High School in Bayside, NY and Queens College in Flushing, NY. Following college, she became an early elementary school teacher with a special love of teaching second grade. She married Arthur Traynor – her husband of 53 years (in 1964) and they remained together until his death in 2017.
Madeline and Arthur raised their children in Ridgefield, CT – living there for 26 years - and were active members of St. Mary’s Parish. Madeline loved teaching religious education classes and supporting her children’s education and after school activities. She loved entertaining and hosted Christmas Eve celebrations at her home for friends and families for many years.
In 1997, Madeline and Arthur relocated to Madison, NJ. Madeline became an active member of the community joining the St. Vincent Martyr Choir, the Garden Club of Morristown and the Healing Touch volunteers at Morristown Medical Center. She lived there for 25 years and adored everything the community had to offer.
Madeline loved plants, art, music and travel. Her children loved going with her to gardens, museums, concerts and trips to places like California, Italy, England, Scotland and Ireland.
She will be greatly missed by her family, friends (there were many) and all those who had the pleasure of getting to know her. She was described as a best friend and neighbor by many.
Survivors include her sister Dorathea Danzico, three loving children, Kathleen Creigton (Craig), Kristina Wilmot (Tim Tyson) and Paul Traynor, three cherished grandchildren, Rachel Creighton, Spencer Creighton and Hayden Wilmot, as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Louis Danzico.
A funeral mass will take place on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 10:00am at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Rd., Madison, NJ followed by an interment at Holy Rood Cemetery, 61 Whippany Rd., Morristown, NJ. There will be no calling hours.
