Obituary of Dolores Mabin

Dolores “Dolly” Mabin, a beloved wife, sister, friend, and dedicated leader, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and an unwavering commitment to her community. Born at Morristown Memorial Hospital and a lifelong resident of Morris County, Dolly dedicated her life to making a difference in the lives of others.

For 42 years, she was the heart and soul of Morristown Medical Center, serving as the Manager of Surgical Services with unmatched dedication, passion, and love. She earned her bachelor’s degree from St. Elizabeth College and her Masters in Administrate Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Dolly didn’t just do her job—she lived it. She led with her heart, always striving to enhance the lives of patients, staff, and all who walked through the hospital’s doors. She was more than a leader; she was a mentor, a guiding force, and an integral part of the hospital community. She worked tirelessly to create a culture of compassion, teamwork, and excellence, inspiring everyone around her with her determination, perseverance, and unwavering belief in the power of human connection.

Dolly’s presence at Morristown Medical Center extended beyond her work in surgical services. She was the driving force behind the hospital’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, ensuring that each year was more joyous than the last. She spearheaded the creation of the hospital floats, bringing people together in celebration and camaraderie. She had a remarkable ability to lift spirits, to make hard work feel like a shared joy, and to remind those around her of the importance of community.

Beyond her professional life, Dolly was a beacon of love and joy. She adored spending time at her beach house with her beloved husband, Jimmy, where the sound of the waves and the company of loved ones brought her peace. Together, they shared a passion for good food, laughter, and time with family and friends—moments that were filled with warmth and togetherness.

Dolly is survived by her devoted husband, Jimmy, her sister, Colleen, and Tom Burdette, her cherished goddaughter, Shannon Thomas, and the sister of her heart, Mary Helen Glod. Her niece Kelly, her sister-in-law Sue and her maternal aunt Judy as well as cherished cousins and numerous friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Dolores and James Mabin, and her brother, James Mabin, whose memories she carried in her heart.

Dolly’s impact on those who knew her is immeasurable. She taught us all what it means to lead with love, to embrace life with joy, and to leave the world a little better than we found it. Her spirit will live on in the halls of Morristown Medical Center, in the laughter of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, in the waves crashing against the shore, and in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her.

Friends and family will gather to honor Dolly's incredible legacy on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 1-5pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, NJ.  (*A steady flow of guests throughout the Funeral Home will ensure everyone a chance to give their condolences.). A Funeral Mass for Dolly will be celebrated on Monday, April 7, 2025 at 10:00am at St. Virgil's Church, 250 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, NJ. Interment will follow at Holy Rood Cemetery, Morristown, NJ.
