To me, she was Tia Nena! She was the elegant , intelligent and beautiful Aunt of mine. I remember how she greeted me saying my nick name “Mimi” with enthusiasm when we spoke briefly on holiday phone calls. My father and Tia Nena didn’t see each other much in the years of raising children and grandchildren but my father’s love and affection for his sister and her children was always strong and evident. My father has been so proud of the success of his nieces and nephews and now their children. I know this pride came through all that Tia Nena shared with him on phone calls they had. I remember my mom talking to her when I was a child and their conversations were warm and comforting to my ears. My mom always mentioned Tia Nenas beauty and her strength in raising her children. When my mother passed, Tia Nena took it on herself to call my father more regularly to comfort him in his loss. Now Tina Nena and my mom will join in our Lords house to watch over him and all of us. Thank you, Tia Nena for showing me a brave, strong, elegant woman. Go with the Lord now ! Con carnino y besos, Mimi

Nina was a bright light. I am so thankful for our time together. I was always amazed by her memory, intelligence and chutzpah. She will be missed.

My Mother, sister, friend will be greatly missed. She was the family historian, had an amazing memory and a beautiful smile. She could tell many stories of her early life in Cuba and her ancestors. In addition, she faced challenges with grace and determination. Her pride and joy was her four children who showed her much love over her 90 years. I love you Mom. You will be with me always.
