Obituary of Eileen Rae Slotsky Heiser

Please share a memory of Eileen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Eileen Rae Slotsky Heiser of Morris Plains passed away peacefully Saturday, May 10, after a long illness.

Ms. Heiser, 87, grew up in Wheeling, WV and Washington, Pennsylvania. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in business education. She lived in Morris Plains for 56 years after living in Pittsburgh and Indianapolis. She spent her career as a business teacher at several public and private schools, including her last 20+ years at Morristown High School. She taught thousands of students and adults how to type. She was, however, just as involved as a leader in a number of community organizations. She served as co-founder, president, or treasurer for Women’s ORT, the Morristown Jewish Center Sisterhood – where she was a longtime active member - the Morris area chapter of the American Association of University Women, and the MetroWest Jewish Community Center’s Women at Leisure club.

She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Robert, and her brother Malcolm Slotsky. She is survived by two sons, Stuart, of Washington DC, and Rich, of Santa Barbara, CA, and five nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 15 at 11:00am, at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Ave., Morris Plains, which will be preceded by family visitation at 10:30am. Interment will be immediately after, at Beth Israel Cemetery on Ridgedale Ave. in Cedar Knolls. In lieu of flowers or food, the family requests that memorial donations be sent to the American Association of University Women, at https://www.aauw.org.
