Obituary of Loretta P. Jacobsen
Loretta P. Jacobsen of Budd Lake, NJ passed away peacefully at home on May 23, 2025 at the age of 83.
Born in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of George and Helen (nee Blaszko) Fedorcho. She was raised in Irvington, NJ, with a large extended family of whom she cherished greatly. Upon graduation from high school, she worked in the banking industry until her marriage, and then became a supportive military wife, living overseas in Germany and then in Dover, Delaware. She moved back to New Jersey in the mid 60’s to raise her growing family.
In 1967, Loretta started her career as a medical biller at St. Mary’s Hospital in Orange. Over the years, she honed her billing and management skills and became a billing supervisor at East Orange General Hospital. In her later years, she worked for the medical practices of Dr. Leigh Ende and Skyland’s Orthopedics. In her professional life she was admired for her reliability and strong work ethic.
Outside of work, she found joy in creative pastimes, especially knitting and needlepoint, often gifting her handmade creations to loved ones. A lifelong learner, Loretta also embraced technology with enthusiasm, staying connected with loved ones and exploring new ways to learn and engage with the world around her. She loved a good video game and would often play Super Mario Brothers and Tetris with her children when they were younger. When she was 75, she fulfilled her lifelong dream of traveling to the Grand Canyon with her daughter Jennifer.
But above all, Loretta cherished time with her 3 children. Whether sharing stories, enjoying a quiet afternoon together, or offering a listening ear, she found her greatest happiness in their company. Loretta was a champion and advocate for her disabled son of which she had a special bond with. She was known for her kindness, generosity and unwavering support of her friends and family.
Loretta is survived by her children Bernadette Jacobsen, John Jacobsen, Jennifer Trotte and her husband Brad. She was predeceased by her sister Janice Fahey.
Loretta's warmth, grace, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Family and friends are welcome to gather on Monday, June 2, 2025 from 3-7pm at Burroughs Kohr Dangler Funeral Home in Madison. Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 10:00 at St. Patrick Parish in Chatham followed by Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
