Obituary of Maria Apicella Zipeto

Maria Apicella Zipeto, of Livingston, passed away peacefully at her home on May 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. 

Maria immigrated to the United States in 1972 from Alberona, Italy, alongside her beloved husband and three children, determined to build a warm and welcoming home for her family. As a devoted mother, cherished Nonna, and proud Big Nonna, Maria had an extraordinary gift in the kitchen. Her homemade gravy was legendary, and she took great joy in preparing pasta and pastries from scratch - each dish a labor of love. Beyond her culinary talents, Maria’s greatest joy came from spending meaningful time with her family, whose lives she enriched with her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love. 

Maria was the beloved wife of the late Nicola Zipeto; and devoted mother of Alessandro Zipeto and his wife, Maria; Giuseppe Zipeto and his wife, Mona; and Leonarda Gesualdo and her husband, Pietro. She was also the cherished grandmother of Nicola Zipeto and his wife, Christine; AnnaMaria Dinapoli and her husband, Joe; Lucia Loconsole and her husband, Nicola; Maria Gesualdo, Gianna Gesualdo, Jacqueline Gesualdo, Nicholas Zipeto, and Cristiano Zipeto; as well as the proud great-grandmother of Camille, Alex, Dean, Angelo, Giovanni, Josephine, Nicola, and Carmelina. 

Visitation will be held at the Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Madison on Friday, May 30, 2025 from 4:30 to 8:30 PM. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, May 31, 2025, assembling at the Funeral Home at 9:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Philomena Church in Livingston at 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
