My name is Bill Vincent I knew John from my business in a dry cleaner in new foundland nj. He did all of our leather work. He was the friendliest person I ever met. Our customers loved him and so did my family. When my grandson had an operation in morristown hospital he was there with us and sat thru the operation. My wife and kids were crying for hours when they heard the news. He was the best. . .

Deepest sympathy to the family in the loss of Johnny. Almost 52 years ago he acted as the best man at our wedding. It was like having a professional comedian emceeing a show. He was a funny, sweet gentleman who would stop by on occasion just to catch up with each others' families. He will be missed, may he rest in peace.

To the Viola Family: So sorry to hear the loss of John. He was a great family man and friend. We’ve known each other since childhood and whenever we saw each other you knew what his first word would be “Goombah” and we would laugh and chat.
He will be sorely missed and never forgotten.

Heartfelt sympathizes to Darby, Joey, Lois and family. May he RIP after a continuous struggle these past 8 years. I'm sure he is on the express train to heaven. Will miss his humble, gentle and gregarious style. John was Commander of our American Legion Post 59 Morristown from 2017-2019; I was honored to support him as Chaplain of The American Legion Post 59 Morristown from 2018 on as his burdens became heavier. I will miss his smile, laughter and sense of history. He supported my mentors Peter J. O'Hagan and J. Robert Tracey and my efforts to compile and publish a History of over 1,500 Morristown Veterans during the 100 Year Anniversary of the ending of WWI. For his friendship & service to our community & country, I honor him with a salute ! Chaplain Jim Cavanaugh, Ceremonial Officer, Memorial & Veterans Day Association of Morristown & Morris Township.

My funny, lovable, handsome cousin Johnny is gone, and l can't believe it. This life will not be the same without you here. Morristown will not be the same without you. Deepest condolences and prayers to the Viola family. Having known Johnny for most of my life, I can honestly say a deep void will be left, not only for me but the entire Morristown community. To Darby, Joey, Lois, and the rest of the family I want to offer my heartfelt prayers and condolences. I was sitting here thinking about how Johnny knew how to make people feel seen, and loved. His sense of humor could bring you out of whatever you were going through. He never knew a stranger. He’d give you the shirt off his back. His smile would light up a room. He had a heart as big as Texas. These are just a few of his attributes. His absence leaves a hole that no one can replace and at the same time memories that are sweet.
