Obituary of Ann A. Florin

Ann (Attison) Florin, cherished wife, devoted mother, adoring grandmother and great-grandmother, and faithful friend, was welcomed into God's arms on August 20, 2025 at the age of 86. Her life was a profound testament to unconditional love and selflessness, leaving a legacy that will forever echo in the hearts of all who knew her.

Ann is survived by her husband of 65 years, Alan Florin, their 6 children and 20 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren: Tim (Alicia) Florin of Morristown, NJ, and their children Derek, Alex, Emma and Julia;  Eileen (Michael) Mueseler of Greensburg PA, and their children Sean (Lydia) and Stephen (Kelly);  Ginny (Rich) Hussey of Morris Plains NJ, and their children Richie and Nick (Jennifer);  Dan (Kelly) Florin of Granger, IN and their children Danny (Nicole), Brittany (Brian), Kristen (Bill), Fr. Brian, Kaitlyn (Aidan), Michael and Anna;  Diane (Jim) O’Donnell of Prairieville, LA and their children Mickey, Alan, and Sean, and Dawn Bruhn of Morris Plains, NJ and her children Megan and Erin; and great grandchildren: Daniel, Colleen, Patrick, Niya, Isaiah, Jayce, Joziah, Andrew, Tommy, Gemma, Johnny, William, Kolbe, Silas, Leah, and Vivienne.

Born in Long Branch to Theodore and Renee Attison, Ann grew up in the Red Bank area, but she spent her summer days with cousins Pat (Meade) Scanlon and Mickey (Meade) Toye-Young in Morris Plains where she met her future husband. Ann attended Red Bank Catholic High School before beginning her career as a legal secretary at Applegate Esquire. After raising her family, she devoted 22 years to Morristown Memorial Hospital (Atlantic Health)  in Bed Management, where she won the BEST Award in 2004. Ann was the perfect person for this job—she greeted patients and their families with unparalleled compassion and understanding. Her ability to offer comfort during difficult times earned her the admiration of all who came into contact with her. She was truly an angel on earth, and everyone who knew her felt the warmth of her care.

To meet Ann was to experience her warmth, compassion, and generosity. She never prepared a meal for just a few—there was always “too much food.” During family celebrations, Ann would rarely sit down, tirelessly checking in, serving, and ensuring every guest felt welcomed, loved, and valued.

Ann’s faith was the quiet strength that anchored her life. Her deep devotion to Mary, the Blessed Mother of Jesus, was a guiding light for her, offering strength and comfort through prayer and reflection. She followed Mary's example of love and sacrifice in all her relationships, embodying grace and humility every day.

During her time at St. Joseph’s Parish in Mendham, NJ, Ann was an active member of the Human Concerns Board. One of her greatest joys was cooking meals for the Father English Center in Paterson, where she served those in need with the same love and dedication she showed her own family. This service earned her the “Mother of the Year” award on The Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee Show in May of 1995. In addition to her service in her parish, Ann was also a proud volunteer with the Morris Plains Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for many years.

Even as her health declined in later years, Ann's care for others never wavered. Whether she was with family, friends, or caregivers, her concern for them remained paramount. "But do you have what you need?" she would ask, with a gentleness that reflected the heart she carried.

Ann’s legacy will live on in the compassion, faith, and love she shared with her family, friends, and her community. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives were touched by her selflessness.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, NJ. (*A steady flow throughout the Funeral Home will ensure every guest has time to pay their respects.*)

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Virgil Church 250 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, NJ.  Interment will follow at Holy Rood Cemetery in Morristown, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Father English Center in Paterson, NJ (https://www.ccpaterson.org/food).
