Obituary of Charles B. Parisek
Charles B. Parisek died peacefully on Friday, September 26, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was 93.
Born in Rockaway, NJ, Charlie was one of eight children born to Andrew and Veronica Parisek. He graduated from Dover High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Rutgers University. He went on to receive his PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Kansas, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Princeton University.
After marrying in 1964, he moved to Morristown, where he and Lorraine raised their three children.
He spent a long career in industry at major paper, rubber, medical product and consulting companies, before retiring from the Food and Drug Administration. He also taught Chemistry at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Florham Park for more than 25 years. He was a member of many professional societies including the American Chemical Society and Sigma Xi, and was a contributor to several professional journals.
Charlie was an avid reader, New York times crossword puzzle enthusiast, and enjoyed playing tennis and golf in his younger years. Above all, he was devoted to his family and considered them to be his greatest life achievement.
He was a parishioner of St Margaret of Scotland Church in Morristown for nearly 60 years.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was predeceased by his brothers Andrew, John, Joseph, and Peter, his sister Agnes, and his son, Paul Parisek.
Charlie is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Lorraine Vigilante Parisek; his daughters Rita Friedrichs (Paul) of Alexandria, Virginia and Joan Galbraith (James) of Morristown, NJ; and grandchildren Christopher and Matthew Friedrichs, James, William and Catherine Galbraith, and Kianna Quinn. He is also survived by his sisters Anna Ringenary and Margaret Hubert, and many nieces and nephews.
The family welcomes you to join us in a celebration of Charlie’s life with visitation on Tuesday, September 30 from 4-7pm at Dangler Funeral Home in Morris Plains, NJ. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 1 at 10am at St Margaret of Scotland Church in Morristown, NJ. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Charlie’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) or St. Margaret of Scotland Church, Morristown, NJ (www.csmargaret.org).
