Obituary of Patricia A. McSherry
On October 19, 2025, Patricia “Pat” A. McSherry (nee Nichols), a longtime Madison resident, succumbed to health issues caused by a stroke in 2023. She was 80.
Pat is predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, David McSherry. She is survived by four children, daughter Kathleen McSherry Pruzick and her husband Andrew, son Michael McSherry and his wife Christina, son Brian McSherry and his wife Anna, and daughter Bonnie Finkeldey and her husband Paul; ten cherished grandchildren, Emily & Kyle Pruzick, Ryan McSherry, Meagan Couch and Husband Sam, Delaney McSherry, Mia, Ryan, & Cora McSherry, Alexis & Patrick (PJ) Finkeldey; one great grandchild Cooper Couch, and many extended family and friends.
Pat is survived by her two sisters Kathleen Finamore of Massachusetts and Karen Kuhlman of Morris Plains, NJ. She is predeceased by her parents and her two brothers Daniel and Kevin Nichols.
Pat was born in Morristown on March 14, 1945, to the late Wallace “Bruce” and Rita Nichols. She was raised in Morris Plains with her 4 siblings and graduated from Baley Ellard High School in 1963.
Pat, a homemaker, raised her 4 children in Morristown and then the family moved to Madison in 1976. Pat started her career as a medical secretary. Upon moving to Madison, she worked for Grubers Bakery, The Star Ledger and the Windsor Gift Shop until retirement.
She spent her free time at football and baseball games, bowling with the Hillside Ladies Auxiliary team, going to the Jersey shore, baking, crocheting priceless baby blankets and doing crossword puzzles. She maintained constant communication and had daily phone calls with her close friends. She was a witty woman who loved to watch the Yankees and any football game on TV. Pat’s legacy for good conversation will be carried on by her family for generations to come.
Pat will be buried at Holy Rood Cemetery next to her husband, Dave in a private ceremony with a celebration of both of their lives later this year.
