Obituary of Marilyn A. Bendel

Please share a memory of Marilyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Marilyn (Hiler) Bendel, 88, passed away on November 27, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Boonton, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Madeline and Harry Hiler; and the sister of the late Thomas Hiler.

Marilyn was the dear mother to her four children, Christine, Deanne, Robert (Mary), and Kevin (Nancy); the grandmother of her eight cherished grandchildren, Jason, Nicole, David, Jr., Jessica, Kevin, Jr., Amanda, Kyle, and Steven; as well as the great-grandmother of her adored great-grandchildren, Mason and Luke; sister of Kathleen (Hiler) Fitzgerald; and aunt to George Fitzgerald and Maureen Hiler.

Marilyn lived a life full of extreme kindness, generosity, strength and faith.

She was a talented and dedicated member of the St. Margaret’s Church Choir – where fellow choir members became family – for 50 years.

In her spare time (no pun intended), Marilyn was an avid bowler. She also enjoyed playing bingo with family and friends.

One of her most favorite activities was to go take a walk in “her” park – a park so special to Marilyn that her family installed a park bench along the path she walked with a plaque “I’m going for a walk in my park.”

“Rest a bit, and enjoy the view, Mom” – Love, your Children.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Sunday, November 30, 2025 from 1-5pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. A Funeral Mass for Marilyn will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025 at 10:00am at St. Margaret’s Church, 6 Sussex Avenue, Morristown. Interment will follow at Holy Rood Cemetery, Morristown.
