Obituary of Bruce A Bergmann
Bruce A Bergmann, aged 78, died at his home on 28 November 2025.
He was born to Alfreda Jazwinski and Arnold Oliver Bergmann on July 31, 1947 in Morristown, New Jersey and grew up on Maple Avenue in Madison, NJ. While attending the US Coast Guard Academy he met his wife Deanna on the hood of a car during a parade in Mardi Gras in New Orleans. They have been married ever since. After many residences during his career in the US Coast Guard he settled in Florham Park, NJ until recently moving to Juniper Village in Chatham.
He graduated from Madison High School in 1965 and the United Staes Coast Guard Academy four years later with a Bachelor’s Degree and commission as an Ensign in the US Coast Guard. He rose to the rank of Commander and ended his Coast Guard career as Captain of the port of New York responsible for Ship Traffic Safety. He continued his career in the US Government in the Army Corps of Engineers as a Project Manager responsible for many projects in and around the City of New York.
Bruce had a brilliant mind and pursued many interests. He held a patent with the US Patent and Trademark office for an expandable hunting arrow head and wrote an adventure novel.
Bruce is survived by his wife Deanna Bergmann and his sister Merrie Bergmann. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Eddie and Barry.
He was buried in the Fair Mount Cemetery in Chatham NJ in a private ceremony. Donations in his memory may be made to Post 43 of the American Legion at 20 Ridgedale Ave, Florham Park, NJ 07932.
