Obituary of Robert James Donnelly

Robert James Donnelly, 79, passed away on December 16, 2025, at Morristown Medical Center.

Born in New York, Robert resided in Flanders, NJ, for the past 48 years.

Robert graduated from Wayne Valley High School, Wayne, NJ, in 1964 and attended East Carolina University. He worked for the past 46 years as an Executive Vice Chairman for Cushman & Wakefield, a global real estate company. He became widely known as one of the most successful commercial real estate brokers in the State of New Jersey during his career.

Robert was a member of Panther Valley Golf and Country Club since 1998 and was a founding member of Hamilton Farm Golf Club since 2001.  He was also an active supporter of many charities in the New York/New Jersey area.

Robert is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Faith Ginsberg, and his loving son, Robert Donnelly, Jr, and his wife, Dawn.  He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Robbie, Sadie and Brodie; his brother, Kenneth Donnelly, of Asheville, NC; as well as his nieces, Shannon Donnelly, Evan Donnelly and Kate Donnelly, and his nephews, Marc Ginsberg, Jason Ginsberg, Kevin Ginsberg, Daniel Ginsberg, and Ryan Donnelly. He always enjoyed having dogs and he will be greatly missed by his labradoodles - Zack and Zoe. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Grosser, and his nephew, Brian Ginsberg.

Robert loved to travel with family and friends, he enjoyed scuba diving, fishing and playing golf as well as relaxing at home, reading and practicing yoga. Most important to him above all was his family, and he continuously put those he cared for before himself.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 3:00 – 6:00pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Ave., Morris Plains, NJ. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 11:00am at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Chester, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations may be made in Robert’s memory to either the Himalayan Institute (www.himalayaninstitute.org), the Market Street Mission (www.marketstreet.org), or a charity that is near and dear to your heart.
