Obituary of Lucille D. Mooney

Please share a memory of Lucille to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lucille (DiPrimo) Mooney 92 passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Jan 1, 2026.

Lucille is survived by her husband Robert T. Mooney, children, Matthew and Kelly Weeks (Chris), and grandchildren, Erika Boyle (Austin) and Julia Weeks. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Elizabeth (Johnston) DiPrimo, brother-in-law Tom Mooney (Murf) and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Frank DiPrimo, Sr and Nicholine (Pennucci), brothers and their spouses Dominic (Marilyn), Frank Jr (Annette), Michael, and sister Anna Furbeck (Bob).

She was born Sept. 18, 1933 in Morristown, NJ. She graduated from Morristown High School in 1952, and it was there that she met her devoted husband of 68 years, Robert.

She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart and was looking forward to the arrival of her first great granddaughter.

She loved sports, especially Yankee baseball and NJ Devil’s hockey.

Everyone who met her loved her.

She was a giver at heart and had the sweet gift of hospitality. She loved people through her food and her needlework. Some knew her as the “cookie lady” and others as the “sock lady”. Cookies, pies, crocheted blankets and crocheted beaded socks were some of the many gifts she shared.

Her first career was working for NJ Bell and Bell Atlantic. She had the inside track to let you pick your phone number if you knew to ask her. After retiring from Bell Atlantic she began her second career as a Mother’s Helper. She helped raise children, cooked, cleaned, loved on family dogs, and was the absolute master at folding clothes.

She was always serving someone in some way. She leaves behind quite a legacy.

The family would like to thank the many friends and family who messaged, called, visited, and loved on Mom when she could no longer get around. Michelle - we are grateful for all the help you have provided and continue to provide. Karine, you were Mom’s angel of a caregiver who made the past 4 years of her life so, so good. You are forever a part of our family.

Family and friends are welcome to gather for a visitation for Lucille on Tuesday, January 6th from 5pm to 7pm at Dangler Funeral Home at 600 Speedwell Ave., Morris Plains, NJ. 07950.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Notre Dame of Mt Carmel Catholic Church at 75 Ridgedale Ave., Cedar Knolls, NJ on Wednesday, Jan 7th at 9:30am, followed by interment at Holy Rood Cemetery, 61 Whippany Rd, Morris Township, NJ

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in memory of Lucille may be made to: Morris County Interfaith Food Pantry (www.mcifp.org).
