Q: How did you meet Christopher?
A: I had the true pleasure of working with Christopher Johnson at Brookfield Properties, while opening of the brand-new building at 1 Bell Slip, and I will always be grateful for that experience.
From the very beginning, Christopher was kind, thoughtful, and genuinely respectful to everyone around him. He carried himself with such grace and professionalism, and no matter the situation, he always made working together feel easy and positive. He listened, he cared, and he treated people the right way.
Working alongside him was not just productive. It was genuinely enjoyable. Christopher was, in every sense of the word, an absolute gentleman. He left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of working with him, and his contribution to 1 Bell Slip will always be remembered as part of that building’s foundation.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
With sincere respect,
Jack Obrycki

Chris and I worked together at Brookfield on a Lobby Renovation... Chris and I would butt heads and curse each other out, only to walk away from each other with a good understanding and always a deeper respect for one another. He was smart, kind, funny and stubborn. I remember asking for a couple of Brookfield hardhats that he kept forgetting about, but months later, he called me to meet him and he delivered them to me. Always a man of his word. Fast forward to one of our co-workers retiring and Chris and I spoke for about 45 minutes to an hour just reminiscing about our work together and laughing about the back and forths we used to have. He never told me he was sick. He was just so strong and so proud. He never showed any weakness... even in our little work battles.
I always admired and respected Chris. Now, knowing his love for animals and reading the amazing memories about him from his loved ones, my respect for him has grown that much more.
What a horrible, unfair loss. My heart goes out to Emily, his family and his friends. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I cannot remember a time in my life before Chris. When I moved to Randolph at age 5, the Feehan brothers lived a few houses down and Chris was just part of the package of friends I was inducted into. Since then it has been a lifetime of friendship. In elementary school we'd have sleepovers and play Nintendo. As we got older, it was movies and roller hockey. When we entered our twenties it was St Patrick's Day in Hoboken, house parties and an occasional Devils game (including seeing them win the Stanley Cup in 2003!). Through our 30s and 40s we saw less of each other as careers, distance and families made visits less frequent, but when we were together would remind me why we'd been friends for all these years. I will always think of Chris with the TV and movie characters he loved - the looks and quick thinking of MacGyver with the wry and dry wit of Han Solo and Indiana Jones. He has forever touched my life and I am grateful that I got to be a part of his. My love and condolences to Emily and the Johnson Family.

Stu and Chris cuddling after a big night out at Stu’s bachelor party in Nashville. They both just started giggling and it was like the years washed away and we were all 4&8 years old again at Willow Drive in Randolph.
I’ll always remember Chris’s room upstairs - tons of movie posters in the walls, being in awe of a a cool older brother, playing guns outside, bike rides through the neighborhood, roller hockey at empty parking lots, Boy Scout camp outs, having a lacrosse pass. Later Stu and I visiting him at Lehigh. And then visiting chris and Stu’s place in hoboken.
He had a passion for life. He was always engaging and vibrant. I will miss him. Sending my love to Emily and the Johnsons.

As his professor in two courses in the Rutgers executive MBA Program, and then with him in China for two weeks, I got to know Chris well.
He was the quintessential scholar and gentleman. Above all, he was funny; he had a mischievous sense of humor. Any class discussion with Chris was better, thanks to his participation. Any class with him in it, was livelier. Just his presence lifted all our spirits.
As his absence now, drops them.

I loved getting to know Chris in these later years, especially his visits to London. His love for jaunty hats and pubs, and his wry sense of humor and the way he’d leave little notes in my IG stories cheering me on or making a quip on something I posted, will all be missed. I’m so sorry, Emily, and for all of the people who loved him. He should still be here.
