Obituary of Doris Clare Silance
Doris Clare Silance, passed away peacefully at 79 years old on January 17, 2026, surrounded by her family. Doris was born in Philadelphia, PA and she lived in Madison, NJ, for the past 56 years with her predeceased husband, James R. Silance.
Doris graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1964 and later received her certification as a Registered Nurse from Thomas Jefferson Hospital in 1967. She was a member of the Nurses’ Association. Being a Registered Nurse was an accomplishment Doris held very proudly throughout her life.
Among Doris’ many hobbies she spent countless hours in her garden during the summer months growing an arrangement of flowers and fruits/vegetables. She also took pride in cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles football team. She was a devoted fan earning her the nickname, “Coach” from her husband and her immediate family. As a proud grandmother, she loved spending time and helping to raise her two granddaughters.
Doris is survived by her devoted daughter, Kristie Dietsch, and husband, Kevin Dietsch, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Gretchen Dietsch-Dunn and her husband, Aaron Dunn, and Morgan Dietsch. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Labbe Sr. and his wife, Denise, her sister-in-law, Diane Labbe and brother-in-law, James Musgrove. She is survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Doris was predeceased by her father, Joseph Labbe Sr. in 1982 and her mother Clara Labbe in 2019. husband, James R. Silance in 2020. She was also predeceased by her brother, Joseph Labbe, Jr., her sister, Carol Roblin and her husband, Lee, and her sister, Lynne Musgrove.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 1-4pm at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main St., Madison, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations may be made in Doris’ memory to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital or The Purple Heart Foundation, two organizations that were very important to her. (www.stjude.org) (https://purpleheartfoundation.org).
