Obituary of Gus C. Pappas

Gus C. Pappas, 87, of Harding Township, NJ passed away at Morristown Medical Center.

Born in Thisvi, Greece, Gus resided in Harding Township for the past 44 years.

Gus lived the “American Dream”. He was the proud owner of The Nautilus Diner in Madison, NJ for 60 years, before he retired in 1997 and passed the reigns to his sons, Chris & Peter Pappas.

In his spare time, Gus loved to play Backgammon, cards, tennis; fishing in Melbourne Beach in the Winter; and visiting Agios Konstantins, Greece in the Summer. He was also a member of St. Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Church in Randolph, NJ.

Gus is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Christine; his devoted sons, Chris Pappas, and his wife, Davina, of Harding Township, and Peter Pappas, of Florida. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Christina, Dean, George, and Eloise, as well as his adored great-grandchildren, Gussy and Stella. Gus was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Anna (2020), and his siblings, Harry, Socrates, Serapheim, and Nick.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 from 4-8pm at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Madison, NJ. (A steady flow throughout the Funeral Home will ensure all guests time to pay their respects.) A Funeral Service for Gus will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 10:00am a St. Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Church, 1447 Sussex Turnpike, Randolph, NJ. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield, NJ.
