Obituary of Irene Jean Koroluk

Irene Jean Koroluk, age 93, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of independence, laughter, and deep love for her family.

Born in Newark, Irene resided in Union. Irene graduated in 1950 from East Orange High School, where enjoyed playing on their basketball and volleyball teams.

Irene worked as a Realtor for Redwood Realty in Verona. She was also a parishioner of Church of the Holy Redeemer in Union.

Irene is survived by her dear sisters, Helen Melillo, Margaret Tinkham, and her sister-in-law, Peggy Koroluk; as well as many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Irene was predeceased by the following family members, Mary Wolf (spouse Robert Wolf), Ann Veiga (spouse Daniel Veiga), Stella Genovese (spouse Carmen Genovese), Hank Melillo, Walter Koroluk (spouse Lee Koroluk), Jane Nobes (spouse Edward Nobes), Edward Koroluk, Richard Tinkham, and Ronnie Cardell (spouse Jerry Cardell).

Fiercely independent and remarkably active, Irene was fun-loving with a dry sense of humor that delighted those around her. In her younger years, she was an avid bowler and tennis player—passions that reflected her competitive spirit and love of staying active, traits that stayed with her throughout her life.

Irene was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews, and a cherished presence to her great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. The children in her family brought her endless joy.

She will be remembered for her strength, independence, and the laughter she brought into so many lives. Irene leaves behind treasured memories, well-shared stories, and family and friends forever grateful to have known and loved her.

Visiting for Irene will be on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 from 10:00am-12:00pm, with a Funeral Service at 12:00pm, at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
