Obituary of Carolynn Sue Leloia

Please share a memory of Carolynn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Carolynn Sue Leloia passed away unexpectedly on February 4, 2026 in St. Maarten. Sue was born in Sioux City, Iowa on September 15, 1945. Although her family moved frequently due to her father’s employment in the Navy, she spent her adolescence in Mountain Lakes, New Jersey. She always spoke of fond memories of her grandmother and summers spent with her in Iowa.  She attended Gettysburg College and obtained degrees in English and Education. Her career in education spanned over 30 years, most of which was in the Morris School District. She started as an elementary school teacher, then administrator and finally principal. Upon retiring, she taught alongside her husband, Frank, in the Alternate Route program for those who decided to switch careers into education.

Sue was an avid reader and loved seeing Broadway shows. She was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morristown and volunteered countless hours of time supporting the local community. Above all, she loved her family. The pride of her life was her son Jeff who predeceased her in 2019. Her favorite role, by far, was being “Mimi” to Vanessa and Nicholas. She spent many hours cheering on all of her grandchildren at their various sporting events and took special pride in watching her youngest grandchild build master lego sets. If she wasn’t with her family, she enjoyed meeting friends for lunch or coffee.

Sue is survived by her loving husband, Frank Jude Leloia, her brother Paul and his wife Julia, her stepson Frank Patrick and his wife Beth, her daughter in law, Alyson, and 5 grandchildren, Nick Leloia, Kyle Swift, Jack Leloia, Vanessa Leloia, and Nicholas Leloia. She was predeceased by her son, Jeff, and her stepdaughter, Carolyn.

She will be sorely missed by her family and many friends, both near and far.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10am on February 20, 2026 at the First Presbyterian Church (main Church) located at 57 East Park Place, Morristown, NJ 07960. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a donation in Sue’s name, her favorite charities are the First Presbyterian Church of Morristown (pcmorristown.org) and the Dean Michael Clarizio Cancer Foundation (dmccfheroes.com) helping the local Morristown community and families and patients with cancer, respectively.
