Mrs. Irene Agoratus was my professor at the College of Staten Island in 1989 when I was completing my studies to become a
high school teacher. I have such warm memories of the wonderful way in which we interacted in her class. We met in her home
after the school day in a seminar-like setting. She always offered us light refreshments, and our class sat around the dining room
table to discuss the topic of the day. She had such a personal, positive, and encouraging touch. Just driving past the site of her
former home often rekindles memories of those wonderful classes. During that semester I attended the cultural night at Port Richmond High School, and I still have the little koala bear that I purchased that night which says, "J'aime le Francais, lo amo L'Italiano, lo amo el Espanol. Yes "love" is the word which I associate with Mrs. Agoratus, such a fine lady.
