I have the fondest memories of Edna who was a friend, committed member, and valued contributor to Brookside Church. She served on the Deacons and did our calligraphy for all documents of note. I'm sure there are a bunch of now, young adults who still have a baptismal or confirmation certificate tucked away, created by Edna's hand. (At her insistence those docs were signed only with fountain pen and black ink!) Maybe not as well-known is that with her language facilitiy, she came up with the name for the dinner/meals program which was central in building a sense of community within the church, "Placesetters." Perfect, don't you think? Just like Edna.

Edna was my oldest childhood friend. We shared all major life events and I miss her so much. She was loving, kind and talented, just the best person.

I will always remember visiting with my aunt Edna as a young impressionable adolescent, and being shown how to conduct myself in a more proper-fashion. Elbows on the table?! I think not! Sitting crisscross applesauce during dinner time?! Not a chance! Edna had class and valued manners, and as a child of mildly-hippie parents, I came to appreciate that about her. Rest in peace dear Edna. ❤️

Nobody could make my mom (Alice, right) laugh like Edna and their sibling group. Plenty of times growing up, I remember them both crying laughing and when asked what the joke was, we’d be left scratching our heads. I loved that though, an inside joke they’d been perfecting for decades.
Rest easy Aunt Edna
