Dr. George Chung-Shih Wang, 89, of Piscataway, passed away at Morristown Medical Center on April 11, 2026.

Chung-Shih Wang, 王重實, was born in Heilongjiang Province, China on October 10, 1936 of the Chinese calendar and November 23, 1936 of the Gregorian calendar.  He lived in Piscataway, NJ, for the past 53 years.

After he graduated from Taiwan Provincial Chien Kuo High School, Taipei, in 1954, he earned multiple degrees which included: a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from National Taiwan University in 1958, an MBA from New York University in 1965, and a Ph.D. in Statistics and Economics from New York University in 1972.  

George and Diana were married on March 19, 1966 in New York, NY, and they recently shared their 60th wedding anniversary.

He worked for CBS Broadcasting Inc. performing market research utilizing statistical sampling technique, regression analysis and experimental design.  In 1970, he started employment at Con Edison in NY, and worked in the Electric Forecast Section of the Forecasting and Economic Analysis Department.  He performed statistical and economic analysis, economic modeling for electric sendout, sales and revenue forecasts, interdepartmental consultations on statistical matters, and evaluation of computer applications in the forecasting area.  He continued his employment at Con Edison for 29 years until his retirement in 1999, and performed consulting work for Con Edison for an additional 2 years after retirement. 

He has written three books; Regression Analysis: Modeling & Forecasting published in 2003, 芳草有情 [We always remember each other (Beautiful grass, love is permanent)] published in 2009, and 漫說風雲成語 (A Chat of Historic Idioms of China) published in 2017. 

He loved literature and history, but most of all, he loved his family.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Diana S. Sun, and his loving daughters, Janet Wang Lee, Mililani, HI, and Dr. Julie Wang, Morristown, NJ, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Madeline Lee Phongsay, Alexander Lee, and Sebastian Lee. He is also survived by his brother, Chung-Ping Wang. He was predeceased by his brother, Chung-Wei Wang.
