A Devoted Wife, Mom & Nonna

Concetta Prizzi Benigno of Newton, New Jersey, passed away after 21 years in the community. Born in Bolognetta, Sicily, Concetta lived a life defined by devotion to her family and to all who knew her. She was a loving daughter, devoted wife, cherished mother and grandmother, caring sister and aunt, and a loyal friend.

Concetta was a graduate of Morristown High School, Class of 1968. She carried her Italian roots with pride and built a warm, welcoming home wherever she lived.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Luigi Benigno of Newton, NJ; her children: Michaelangelo Benigno and his wife Jennifer Repak Benigno of Jacksonville, FL; Maria Benigno Klein and her husband Rob Klein of Whippany, NJ; Carmela Benigno Zega of Tucson, AZ; and Vincent Benigno and his wife Jeanie Byszewski Benigno of Chester, NJ.

Concetta was a proud and loving grandmother to Dakota DeSantis, Jessica Klein, Hannah Klein, Alexandra Zega, Nicholas Zega, Dominic Benigno, Christopher Benigno, Vera Benigno, and Nora Benigno.

She is also survived by her brother, Alessio Anthony Prizzi and his wife, Alicia, of Morris Plains, NJ; her niece and nephew, Anthony Prizzi and Sara Prizzi; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews from the Benigno family, all of whom she cherished deeply.

Concetta also leaves behind her dear cousins, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and connection.

Concetta was predeceased by her parents, Vincenzo Prizzi (1920–2008) and Cira (Polezzano) Prizzi (1928–2022).

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, NJ. A Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Virgil’s Church, with interment to follow at Holy Rood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that a tree be planted in Concetta’s memory or that a donation be made to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org) in her name.
