Obituary of Douglas C. Kirk

Beloved High School Teacher & Football Coach 

Douglas C. “Doug” Kirk, 72, of Morristown passed away on April 22, 2026 at home with his loving family by his side.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Doug resided in Denville before moving to Morristown 36 years ago.

Doug graduated from Bridgewater-Raritan West High School in 1972 and then went on to earn his B.A. degree from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA in 1976.

Doug was a Teacher and Football Coach at Mendham High School for 36 years, until he retired in 2015.

Upon his retirement, Doug established the charity organization “Geoffrey’s MVP” (a non-profit organization that awards a yearly scholarship to Morris County football players or students who exemplify the sportsmanship of Geoffrey D’Aries.)

Doug is survived by his devoted siblings, Robert Kirk and his wife, Jeanne, of Wilmington, NC, and Janice Collins, and her husband, Don, of Nokomis, FL. Doug is also survived by his cherished nieces and nephews, Douglas Kirk, John Olson, Elizabeth Olson, Nora Olson, Brian Olson, Brendan Murray, Madison Murray, Jillian Murray, Maeve Murray, Catherine Quinn Murray, Kieran Murray, Meeghan Murray, Sam Siddall, Bernard Siddell and Joseph Siddell.

Doug was predeceased by his dear wife, Siobhan, only a few months ago in January 2026. Now they are reunited in the perfect love and peace of Heaven.

Family and friends are welcome to gather n Monday, April 27, 2026 from 4-7pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. (*A steady flow throughout the Funeral Home will ensure all guests time to pay their respects.) A Memorial Gathering with Words of Remembrance will take place on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 10:00am at the Chatham-Summit Quaker Meetinghouse, 158 Southern Blvd., Chatham.
