Obituary of Frank Paul DiPrimo, III

Please share a memory of Frank to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Frank Paul DiPrimo, III, 55, passed away on May 10, 2026, at Morristown Medical Center with his family by his side. Born in Morristown, NJ, he lived in Mendham, NJ, before moving to Budd Lake 30 years ago.

After graduating from Mendham High School in 1988, he went on to pursue a B.S. degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Duquesne University and graduated in 1993. He worked as the Pharmacist in Charge at Rite Aid Pharmacy, Newton, NJ, until his retirement in 2012.

In his spare time, Frank was member of the United States Bowling Association (USBA) and the Chester Library Book Club (NJ).

Frank is survived by his devoted wife, Melissa (nee Morr) DiPrimo, and his loving son, James Francis DiPrimo, of Warner Robins, GA. He was predeceased his parents, Frank Paul DiPrimo, Jr. and Annette (nee Alise) DiPrimo, and his sister, Alise Hess.

Frank P. DiPrimo, III was a loving husband and father. He met Melissa while she was working at JC Penny Catalogue and he was at his internship with Thrift Drugs in college. He and Melissa were supposed to be married on September 17th, 1995, though this was postponed due to health complications with his heart. On September 14th, 1995, he received a heart transplant from an 18-year-old girl who died tragically in a car accident.

He married Melissa on April 14th, 1996. His wife, Melissa, gave him her right kidney six months later, on October 23rd, 1996. This made them the first couple in the state of NJ to be a living donor/recipient pair. The running joke in the family is that “he only married her for her kidney,” though everyone knows that was not the case.

Frank’s hobbies included bowling, golfing, fishing, and reading. Each year, he would enter a father-son youth bowling league with James whom he called, “Jimmy.” Frank also taught James how to play golf and would often play together in the summer.

He was also a huge fan of the NY Giants and the NY Yankees, and casually collected coins, stamps, and baseball cards, the former he shared with his father.

After his death, the NJ Sharing Network was able to accept his liver, both eyes, and both corneas as organ donations, to save someone’s life and restore the gift of sight to another. This was a wonderful gift for a family on Mother’s Day.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 5-8pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Ave., Morris Plains, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 9:30am at Notre Dame of Mount Carmel Church, Cedar Knolls, NJ. Interment will follow at Holy Rood Cemetery, Morristown, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations may be made in Frank’s memory to the Sharing Network (www.njsharingnetwork.org).
