Glenn A. Montgomery Sr., lovingly known to so many as “Pipa,” of Morristown, New Jersey, passed away on May 13, 2026, at Morristown Medical Center, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 82 years old.

There are truly no words powerful enough to capture the loss felt by all who knew and loved him. Glenn was the kind of person who made everyone feel important, welcomed, and deeply loved. His presence filled every room with laughter, warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support. To know him was to love him.

Visitation will be held at Burroughs Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Madison, New Jersey 07940, on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. (* A steady flow throughout the Funeral Home will ensure all guests time to pay their respects.*) Funeral services will be held at the same location on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Glenn will be cremated privately following the services.

Glenn was born on December 17, 1943, in Orange, New Jersey, to Isabella Ruth Kunzmann Montgomery and Stivers Lincoln Montgomery. He graduated from Clifford Scott High School in 1961 before continuing his education at Rutgers College, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1967. He later received his Master of Arts degree from Columbia University in 1969 and earned his Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law in 1977.

Glenn began his career as an English teacher at East Orange High School before pursuing a distinguished legal career that spanned 49 years. He was admired not only for his intelligence and dedication, but also for his kindness, humor, and ability to connect with everyone around him.

Above all else, Glenn cherished his family. He never missed a sporting event for his grandchildren and was their proudest supporter in every stage of life. He loved striped bass fishing in Cape Cod, spending time with family and lifelong friends, and enjoying a good cigar surrounded by people he loved. He had an extraordinary ability to make others laugh, feel seen, and feel cared for.

Glenn is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Ryan Montgomery; his brother, Ronald Montgomery; his children, Glenn A. Montgomery Jr. and his wife Chrisanne, and Scott D. Montgomery and his wife Christina; his stepchildren, Fran Ryan, Leslie Ryan Hartzell and her husband Scott, and Bowen Ryan; and his cherished grandchildren, Andrew D. Montgomery and his wife Emily, Cassandra G. Montgomery, Tyler J. Montgomery, Riley A. Montgomery, Luke V. Andersen, Zachary T. Andersen, Frances Ryan, Peter Ryan, Spencer Hartzell, Parker Hartzell, Carson Hartzell, Avery Ryan, and Finn Ryan.

He was predeceased by his parents, Isabella Ruth Kunzmann Montgomery and Stivers Lincoln Montgomery, and by his first wife, Gail Ann Montgomery.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the many friends and loved ones who have surrounded them with support, prayers, and compassion during this incredibly difficult time.

Though our hearts are broken, we are endlessly grateful for the privilege of loving him and being loved by him. His legacy of love, loyalty, humor, and generosity will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations may be made in Glenn's memory to St. Jude Childen's Research Hospital ( www.stjude.org).
