Obituary of Lester Miles Schlanger

Lester Miles Schlanger, 86, passed away on May 29, 2026, at Morristown Medical Center. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he lived in Madison, NJ prior to moving to New Providence a year ago.

Lester graduated from Rochester University in 1961 and worked as a Chemical Engineer for the Honeywell Corporation, Morris Plains, NJ. He was a member of Temple Sinai. A proud veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy under Admiral Rickover, Director of the Naval Reactors branch.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra Schlanger, and his loving children, Beth Davidovich and husband, Avi and Ilene Lewis and her husband, Phil, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Ben Davidovich and his wife, Sydney, Adam Davidovich, Seth Lewis and Justin Lewis. He is also survived by his brother Arnold Schlanger and his wife, Barbara, NYC, and his sister, Karen Howard, Charlotte, NC, in addition to nieces, Elizabeth Schechter, Laura Schechter, Laura Maged, Amy Andrews, Stephanie Beck, Alison Dalewitz, and nephew, Andrew Schlanger.

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at 11am at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Ave., Morris Plains, NJ. Interment will follow at Mount Freedom Hebrew Cemetery, Randolph, NJ.
