Obituary of Alan Louis Gross
Alan Louis Gross, 82, passed away on June 24, 2026 at Morristown Medical Center with his family at his side. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, but has resided in Morristown, NJ for the past 54 years.
Alan graduated from James Madison High School and Brooklyn College. He received his Ph.D. in Applied Statistics from Purdue University in 1970. He worked for the Graduate Center at the City University of New York as a Professor of Applied Statistics and as an Administrator for 37 years until his retirement in 2007. In his retirement, he was involved with his community as an EMS Volunteer with the Morris Minute Men.
Alan is survived by his wife, Ellen Gross, and his son, Andrew Gross and his partner, Jennifer Rose, of Greenville, SC, and his daughter, Tamra Healey and her husband, Tim Healey, of Westfield, NJ, as well as his grandchildren, Henry, Ben and Owen. He is also survived by his sister, Helene Mintz, of Livingston, NJ.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 11am at Beth Israel Cemetery, 23 Ridgedale Ave., Cedar Knolls. NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alan’s memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (www.t2t.org) and Morris Minute Men EMS, Morristown, NJ (www.morrisminutemen.org).
